As the final days of what has been a disappointing year for many Arab investors approach, eyes are once again focused on equities, as well as bonds. The end of the Eid Al Adha holidays, huge rises in public spending in the Gulf states and the prospect of oil prices holding up are all adding to a sense of optimism. Even the Eurozone crisis is seen as a buying opportunity given the relative weakness of the euro against the dollar. So, too, is progress in countries like Egypt, Tunisia and Libya on the implementation of reforms, both political and economic, despite continuing conflicts elsewhere in the Arab world.
